The village that Kalista grew up in, Cenobia, the people worshipped the wolf goddess Vivian. All of the villagers have wolf ears and tails. A gift from the goddess, as they say. They would hold festivals on every night of a full moon in her honor. However, in this village no one liked Kalista. She had become skilled at charming all of the village men. The wives of the men became angered and suggested to the Kage that she be exiled. He agreed. To officially exile Kaile, they would cut off her wolf ears and tail and be walked out by one of her relatives. It was her only friend, Kazuhito Jakobe, who walked her out of the village.
Now she is discovering the error of her ways and is finding new friends. She's even married now.
